History of The Paradise Centre
The Paradise Centre consists of two main areas, the indoor sports centre and the outdoor recreational grass area.
The Centre was built by East Cambridgeshire District Council, and opened in 1986 to provide the community of Ely and surrounding areas with a much needed sports facility.
The Centre is not a local authority centre, although initially built by the council it was immediately handed over to a committee made up of affiliated club representatives, users of the Centre and the mandatory councillors. The Centre is a self-funding organisation and running costs must always come from Centre revenue.
